  • Escalade 6.0 swap in an F-body

Wondering if a 6.0 Chevy V8 will fit under the hood of our f-bodies. Just wondering, a buddy of mine an engine, comp and tranny out of a 2001 escalade. How much fabrication would be neccesary if it is possible to fit this engine in an f-body and is a good choice or is it too much of a truck motor?

Depends on the motor mounts, but I've seen northstars wedged in Fbodies so its doable.

The new truck engines are all based on the LS1. The iron 6L block is in fact a favorite of people with serious power engines. Some people also take the 5.3 or 6L heads and put them on the LS1 block. Basically the easiest way to put the 6L in would be to get a T56 or 4L60E from a V8, and the V8 f-bod accessories. It would probably be better to use an LS1 pcm and editing software instead of the Escalade's PCM.

EDIT: I think the motor mounts are the same across the line. The 5.3/LSX/6.0 is sort of like a modular engine program, with most of the stuff being very similar and interchangeable.

the block it self is the same as a ls1 you will need a new intake might as well get an ls6 intake allso you would want a ls1 wiring harness

basicly it would be an ls1 swap wonce you get the accessorys and intake on also you will need a ls1 crank from an ls1, so that the trans will bolt right up to it

ohh yea this is a lower compression more like 9.6 to 1 for the H.O. version of this engin

this motor will also weight about 150lbs more then your 6 and 75lbs more then a ls1

its a great motor to run forced induction on and those heads can flow some hella numbers when ported right

its an ls1 block so you can get a ls1 kmemeber blah blah

Yep, alot of the serious powera dder guys here run this block. It's a GM iron block, so it can be bored a bit more safely, they are using it for stroker cars such as the 396's and 408, etc... It will fit right in no problem, as it is the same size as the other ls1's. You will need either the LS1 or LS6 intake, and of course your other accesories needed in any LS1 swap. And most of the folks at LS1tech and patriot ehads agree that the 5.3L heads will outflow the 5.7L heads, just FYI.

You can get 434ci aluminum engines, people go iron for strength.

As was mentioned, the truck LS1s use a taller intake manifold, which is said to not fit under the cowl.

boring, Porting and polishing all remove material, and lower weight. might not end up weighing more than a pound, but I guess every little bit helps. btw, if ur gonna do this, u might as well go all out. get the best.

2K1 - they reviewed a vette with the same engine a while ago. Great for burnouts, but hard to get the power to the ground in a controlled fashion. Good for 4wd cars though..

well, u can flare the rear fenders and put 18x12.5's back there w/ 335-30-18 tires. that, plus the right rear suspension mods would prolly reduce tire spin to a minimum off the line.
