You all should definetly talk to Josh about rebuilding your 3.4's! He knows what he's talking about and has his own beast of a 3.4. I have bought a couple parts from Josh at AMMPerformance.com and it all came and just in time to.Im also in the middle of my 3.4 rebuild and its going pretty good.

better 3.4 cam?

I would say that to see good gains from a cam, you need to get those heads ported. Unless money is really tight in this project, I think you'd like the end results with heads and headers much much better.\'95 Med. hey viper.. i have a few questions..ive got a 3.4L running nitrous (60-75 hp shot) , cai, flowmaster catback, etc. I am looking to do a cam. while i have the motor tore down, i plan on porting the upper and lower intakes, but i dont want to get into any head porting. Can you give me a good recommendation as far as what all options you could offer me? people above have said that the LUNATI-06312 s best for "just ading a cam. would that provide a good performance boost? would i be beter off goin with the 1.6 : rockers on that too? im not really concerned how the car acts, as its not exactly a daily driver, i just want the most power gain i can get without having to port the heads. if you could reply back asap, id appreciate it. I want to get the cam ordered as soon as i find out what would be a good combo.
also, would it be a good idea to get a set of valve springs and do those while im at it? if i went with new springs, am i going to need to get new retainers and locks as well?

You definitely need to get the heads ported and polished to gain maximum performance from your engine. Keep in mind that the heads that we have on our 3.4L V6 is the same casting as the 2.8L V6. The heads were designed for a 173 cu. in. displacement while we have a 207 cu. in. displacement. You need to move more air into the cylinders for better performance.
When you get your heads ported and polished, have the flowed. I cannot stress this enough. With the numbers from the flow chart, you can match a cam for best performance.
As far as a good all-around cam, I would suggest the Lunati cam that I put in my car. I really like it. It has some trouble idling though so I might suggest going to a 112 LSA instead of the 110 LSA. That's just a suggestion though.
Finally, as far as the springs and retainers and such...I would suggest doing them. It is just common practice that when doing a head/cam job, you replace the springs, retainers, locks and lifters as a whole. It would be better to get it done now than to run into a problem in the future.- Josh
If you have any questions or need installation pics/help, e-mail me: Viper98885@aol.com
\'93 Camaro Hardtop
\'01 Lincoln LS8 Sport
\'00 Yamaha YZF-R6
Full Throttle Performance

Hey Josh , I think my mechanic ordered me the powermax 2030 cam for my rebuild but im not 100% sure yet. I wanted to know if I would get some pretty good power with that cam. I know it isnt that big of a cam but I need something computer compatable. Here are the specs on the powermax 2030 cam. Oh and I wanted to know if you would know anything on how my idle would be with the 109 LSA and would it sound good you think?
Intake/exhaust duration - 204/214
Degrees advertised duration- 264/274
Lobe separation-109
Lift-.423/.423 with 1.6 goldseries roller rockers
what do you think my lift would be with the rockers?

thats easy, .423 in the lift with 1.5 rockers,so you devide by 1.5 to get the cam lift
in this case .282
then ya multiply that by 1.6, so its .451Wolf
95 black t-top camaro,3.4 5 speed,ud pullies,plugs/wires,de-shaft tb & gutted airbox, homemaid short throw shifter

Ryan,
That cam is a "shelf" cam which means that is a stocked cam at Comp. Most people don't regard those cams as a very high performance setup, but it will be much better than stock. With my Lunati cam and my 1.6 Crane rockers, I am running a .496" valve lift and quite a few other 3.4L V6 people are running over .500 lift. That cam will be decent, but don't look at setting any records.
As far as the 109* LSA, it will thump...it will definitely sound good.
Oh, BTW, if anyone wants to hear what my Lunati cam sounds like in my 3.4L V6, you can reach me at 502.552.5467. If I am not too busy, I will fire the car up for you and you can hear what it sounds like.

Ryan,
If you have a copy of DD2K (Desktop Dyno 2000) you can put the numbers into the program and see basically where your power band will lie. It will also show your estimaetd peak power.
If you have any problems with it, contact me (or Tiago or Wolf or a number of others on the board) and we can help you through it.- Josh
If you have any questions or need installation pics/help, e-mail me: Viper98885@aol.com
\'93 Camaro Hardtop
\'01 Lincoln LS8 Sport
\'00 Yamaha YZF-R6
Full Throttle Performance

I am sure that someone would put the specs in, but you would probably be better off doing it yourself with some help so that you have the opportunity to learn it yourself in case you want to make future changes.- Josh
If you have any questions or need installation pics/help, e-mail me: Viper98885@aol.com
\'93 Camaro Hardtop
\'01 Lincoln LS8 Sport
\'00 Yamaha YZF-R6
Full Throttle Performance

how hard of an idle is the 110 LSA cam? is it something that can be dealt with driving in traffic? im not worried too much about rough idle as long as it keeps running ;)
also what is the part number for that same lunati cam with the 112 degree lobe sep. angle?
