ok im gonna swap my cam i put the wrong one in dont ask but is there a away to just pull the cam and not have to pull the top end og the block all the way down i think if i take the rockers off and spind the cam a few time it will push the lifters up and hopfully stay to where i can put the new cam in can this be done???

If you're gonna do it, do it the right way and take the long route, unless you want to risk having to replace even more stuff.

Hopefully? I wouldn't take any chances. Do it the right way and be safe.

dont try it....we have the same type lifter retainers as the LS1's and it is possible for it to work BUT the chance of a lifter falling into the motor is too high to risk it? BTW why is the wrong cam in the motor?

just a thought im not sure if it would work but i think it would be custom to weld 12 magnets on the end of some old pushrods stick them through the heads with a bar on top supporting them and pull the lifters up till they are at the top of the lifter guides! sounds like a great idea but might not work!

There was a place that sold these kind of magnits. Specific for cam swaps. I cant remember the website though. I remember they sold alot of mustang parts. I will see what i can find.

I wouldnt recommend doing it this way though. Its only going to take you an extra hour if your fast for pulling the intake manifold. If you drop a lifter its gonna be tearing down the motor again. You should really just pull the intakes i think.

I think he is asking how you would tell if the cam has a cam sensor button on it.

Seriously... dont try it. I know what you went through, I just finsihed rebuilding the WHOLE top end of my motor. I know the **** you go through. But just do it the right way. The second time doing something is always faster. Good luck. ;)

there definately is a tool that holds all the lifters up so you can put the cam in.

                            do a little looking around
