I bought a 97 PCM from a boardmember here. I have the 96 3.8 M5, and the PCM is from a 97 3.8 M5, and I had a GM Parts Counter Employee tell me that they aren't interchangeable at all. He said that the plugs are different. I haven't gotten the PCM in the mail yet, so I can't size them up .
Also, where can I find a chip for the 97 IF they do infact, interchange?

    Thanx for any help rendered.

    -Marc

Well 12secdream was selling his programmed PCM but its gone now, he of course has zoomer do it.

I wouldn't doubt if the PCM plug wasn't different on the 96/97 model years, but there's of course only one way to find out.

Thanks for the page, but you might want to change the title to something searchable per the rules so Magnus doesn't chew us both out ;)

When you say "chip" for the 97 PCM, what do you mean exactly? Something like the jet Chip?

OOPS! Sorry, didn't want to step on any toes. I'll change it as soon as I'm done writing this reply.

Yes, I am interested in getting something like a jet-chip for it. Or, at least something that is better than the stock chip. I'm not interested in shiftpoints (of course) because I have an M5, but something that'll give it a bit more "umf".

      Thanx

There aren't any chips for 96s or 97s. I have looked and looked and looked. No one makes them. If someone does please correct me and let me know where I can buy one, but it has been my experience after all my researching and calling and emailing that I haven't found one. jet tol dme they didn't have one but smartchips did and when i called them and emailed them (just to make sure it wasn't some idiot on the phone) both replies said that they didn't either.....
