ok I have about 100k on my L36 right now. I know my engine wont last forever, but if i went with some new heads, camshaft, springs, maybe the supersix package, basically the whole valvetrain, would that be like running with a new engine? I of course would be using the same stock 231 block

With 100K on the engine you're probably okay but personally I would install BRAND NEW headgaskets on it when you go to change the cam/valvetrain and put stress on the engine.

Might as well put a new waterpump in it for good measure, change out the timing gear set and chain, and just essentially rebuild the tophalf "just in case" if you decide to tear it open.

yep! but then you will have to worry about the little things like maybe a starter and water pump if they havent gone out already.

          I mentioned the waterpump

But yes... it will make everything which generally fails, sans valve guide seals, new.

Keep up on regular service intervals, you shouldnt ever have to worry about the bottom end unless you are REALLY thrashing it.

What about Piston Rings??? You tend to wear these out in higher mileage cars.. I mean not to where the car won't run, but probably enough so that it wouldn't run "Like New"...

You don't need new piston rings...

I have 120K on mine and it still's running strong. I personally would deffinately replace all the seals/bearings if I were to put an agressive cam in.
