When I hooked it up on my computer here, the ignition timing changed and one other variable changed. It was very basic, but if Fastchips says that their programming is a very basic one, I am not gonna spend $350+ on it when it won't do me any good at this point in time.

So can we not dyno tune the 3.4l? I really would like to do this... What is involved in dyno tuning when it is done, for example on an LS1. They run, adjust A/F ratios, timing, etc, until they find the perfect combo? I think just because of the way my car is running it needs a performance tune. There is no specific problem I can point out of its perdormance, just I think it needs a tune. Any ides?

you can get an indepent computer , some sort of a DFI system or a FAST engine management system, MOTEC or a haltec, a DFI will cost around a grand or so , the others around 2 grand

I've got a Hypertech power programmer for a 95 3.4L Automatic installed on my car and I picked up some gains. Check my website for the dyno charts. It's not a dyno tune, but it is another programming option that's out there. Of course, they don't make them anymore so you'll have to look around places like ebay or for sale sections to find a used one.

I think the other guys are trying to tell you that you can't tune our computers like the v8 or the 3.8 guys can. It's a supply vs. demand thing. There aren't nearly as many serious 3.4 v6 tuners as there are 3.8 v6 and v8 guys. There's not a L32edit or HPtuners version for our motors. Believe me, I've looked!! I'm not trying to take the wind from your sails, just trying to save you some time hunting for something that doesn't exist. Good luck with the rest of your mods!!! :D

Good looking color by the way!

Of course, if you wanted to do somthing completely odd like say, swap out your COMPLETE induction and harness with that of an earlier 60* v6 (3.1/2.8 RWD)... I'm not even sure if you 4thgen guys can fit a distributor under your hoods....not enough space for much. Let's say that somehow you could, you could use the computer from an earlier V6 Fbody (3rdgen)and then you'd be able to burn your own proms just like the V8 thirdgenners do. Granted I don't know of any 3rdgen V6 owners that have actually DONE this yet. I have been told that it is very possible to do though. Do 4thgen ECM's have EPROMS? If they do, someone would only have to decode the BIN (?)and then PROMs could be custom burned fairly easily. All I know is, It's just about time for me to do this, all the changes I've made are playing havoc with my drivability (until your on the throttle of course ;) )

Hey, I program my own chips. And the only problem with swapping the 4th gen 3.4 to a 3rd 3.1/2.8 is that the intake of the 3.4 will not allow a distributor to fit.

I'll repeat myself. You don't need a programmer with a '93 3.4 - they have removable proms. It was the last year for them. '94 and up need a programmer.

On Tunercat.com, the only listing they have for a 3.4L is a buick motor (LQ1) from 91-94 with the ecm # 16149396. There are no other proms listed.

93' does NOT have a removeable prom, I've checked it myself. 92 should've been the last year. I've searched high and low for hours on end and I do believe there is no DIY tuning for a 3.4L. If I get the money soon I think I'm gonna swap it for a 3.8. But that might be more trouble than it's worth..

Places like Superchip have a prom listed for the '93 3.4 and a big N/A for 94+ Ex. 2900+[4digit code] like AXKT

I have never personally checked a '93 PCM but everything I have ever read concerning that year 3.4 indicated they had a removable prom.

I have a 1993 3.4L V6. The car is down right now. If I remove the computer and we can work something out, then great. I would want it back in a non-****ed-up manner though.
