  • 3.8 and 3.4 Fuel Injector Sizes

I want this in advanced tech rather than general tech because I think this topic should be archived.

What sizes are the stock 3.8 and 3.4 fuel injectors?

I ask because I've heard conflicting reports. Some sources say the 3.8 has 19# and the 3.4 has 17#, the Technical Database says 22# for the 3.8, and my Haynes manual doesn't say a thing, it only says "remove the old injector, insert the new one".

Need an absolutely correct answer once and for all... Thank you.

I called a local dealer. I know the head mechanic there and he told me 19# injectors where stock size for a 3.8 :D I had also heard this at several other places but it isn't a 100% answer I guess Oh yeah, I also had one replaced about a month ago and I just checked my reciept and it says, they replaced 1 19# fuel injector

Will upgrading fuel injectors give me more top end and will they put out more all the time or only when I need them to?

The reply from Rich97 is also the information I have about the injectors. The 3.4 has 17# injectors and the 3.8 has 21.6# injectors(which would in effect be 22#'s). Sorry I don't remember where I got this info from but I believe it to be correct.

For those who have asked about changing to larger injectors; it is really only useful to do this if you are useing a power adder like nitrous or turbo/supercharger which will demand more fuel that the stock injectors can output. IMHO.

Well summit racing (1-800-230-3030) specifically has aftermarket injectors for our 3.8 v6 f body's
They start at 19 lb, then have a 24 lb (which I have) and finally they have 30 lb.
Now this is my reasoning that stock injectors are 19's and not 22's.
                        These are accel injectors.
Why would accel make an aftermarket injector specifically for our cars that is smaller than stock?
                        Hope that helps

So we are still no closer to an "official" answer? Why is this question so difficult???
