• PIMP my Ride!

I'm trying to decide if I want to upgrade my 3.8L 2k2 engine with a turbo/supercharger.

or

drop in the LT1 or LS1?

I'm guessing dropping in a LT1 would be the best power to cost ratio %. But the v8s would be a little more gas money.

Supercharger will run around ????
Single Turbo 3.8L will run around ~13.2 in 1/4
stock N/A LT1 should run around ~ 13.0 in 1/4
stock N/A LS1 should run around ~ 12.5 in 1/4
Thnx this is gonna be a ***** PITA

Those ET's are not realistic. While some have probably done it, not all cars will. The NA Lt1 would more likely be at a 14.0 and LS1 13.5 depending where you live.

H/C on a LS1 should put you in the Lowwwwwwwwww 12s with minor other work. I've seen guys in the mid 12s with Intake, exhaust, and gears...

ok
im talking stock
my 3.8L 2k2 runs 14.85 (ram air, wires, free mods)
so it wouldnt be any upgrade to slap in an LT1 and make 14.0 as WickEdSix9838 said.
(would be a waste - gas$$$$, weight)

i thought stock 2k2 ls1s run mid 12s.

sounds like im overestimating the v8s :(
wats h/c?

I hope you're never planning to sell the car if you drop in an 8. You will maybe get an extra 1000 out of it, and the swap will cost you upwards of 5-8 thousand right now. 8 thousand dollars can do a lot to our little engines. Also, if you sell the car, you could sell such things as the supercharger/turbocharger as they retain at least some of their value.

so.... all of you hooligans are telling me to just upgrade my 3.8L

was just worried about our "little engines" being fragile

ex quese me sir, baking powder
but $8k could get me more than just an ls1

i could drop $5k-$6k for a badass ls1 and have $2k-$3k more to upgrade it

WHATS H/C?

if you have a H/C LS1 and you are only running 12's, shoot yourself.

A cam-only car is deep in teh 10's.

Most H/C well-prepared cars are at least in the mid 11's.

Then there's the fact that you've spent nearly twice as much as other TA owners for essentially the same car, when you factor in what you had to pay originally, the engine, and the swap.

I guess it all comes down to what you want to pay.
