• One more cam question...

i was told if you do a cam the springs and retainers and everything had to be removed anyway..if i go with the GT1 and probably just use the stock springs..especially since they'll be new..do the springs and all that HAVE to be removed??..why not just remove the heads and springs and all as a whole..assembled..do the cam..and then put the heads back on??

Your right, the valvesprings do not have to come off, only the pushrods and lifters. I wasnt thinking clearly before. But with the heads outta the engine bay, they should only take a like 30 minutes to change.

What should only take 30 minutes? The pushrods and lifters or the springs? So, either way .. part of the head assembly needs to be removed in order to install the cam?

If you are doing a cam, do the springs. There should be no question about that. Stock springs will not hold up with an aftermarket cam.

However, you can change a cam without removing the springs. When I put my stock cam back in, I left the 105# springs (too lazy to take them out).

Alright .. I have to think a little more about which one I want.

Right now it looks like either the GT2 or the Intense Stage 1X.

            Thanks for the info.

either cam will be good. the intense cam will probably be more driveable since it doesnt have as large an overlap but that should only effect u in the winter when u start ur car cause the mre overlap u have (generally more duration) the harder it is to strt onreally cold mornings. GT2 will be a better performer, ijust put the GT2 in mine a month ago and it is pretty cool. as for the heads, if u decide to keep the retainers and springs stock which u shouldnt then u only need to remove the rckers and pushrods. regardless yes u can take the heads off to assemble everything.
