  • 2001 3.8 coil

after reading that freakish gas mileage post i firgured, what the hell, itll pay for it self so i order the wires for my car while asking if he could recomend a blaster coil since my model has like a direct spark thing with a distributerless ignition i searched the MSD site and got nothing. he sed sure i just have to call em back. so i get the stuff and the wires are fine but the coil sez GM LS series Gen. 3 Part #8245. now i told the guy in the begining its a v6 but i look on the site and it confirms the coil is for LS1s and LS6's. ima try to get an exchange or refund 2moro but can ne one help me find the right product

it sort of looks like 3 of these in a row, 2 cylinders per coil i gess
    http://msdignition.com/coil_blaster_9_8224.htm
but its sez for mid 80's and late 90's
    heres what i got

Yeah, the part you want is MSD-8245 and you will need three of them. You can also find them here:

              Get it from Summit.

              http://store.summitracing.com/partde...=KeywordSearch

Says there up to 1998. All 3.8 coils are the same. One made for a 98 will work on a 01. ;)

Ditto, Thats the best designed coil for our car today. Its way better than the Magnavox style of yesteryear. Plus they are silicone filled, not epoxy, so the dont burn out like the cheap old style ones do. I say, get three and yo'll be happy as can be! - Tim

i got a question regarding these coil packs...

Will replacing the stock coil packs with the msd coil packs reallly improve performance and gas mileage? or will i have to go all out and get the msd dis-4 to go along with it?

i dont see how just a coil pack can create a gain since its getting its charge from the same electrical components...

                  care to enlighten me?
