• My Girlfriend will buy me a cam, if its good for 40+HP

The subject says it all. I want a compcam so bad. I dont have the money and the holidays are right around the corner. So she said she will buy it for me now and make it a christmas preasant. This is all I want for my ride. Now she said she doesnt want to buy it if it wont make a difference. I told her it should be good for approximate 40+ flywheel HP.

The cam I have now:

196/196 .496/.496 115ls 111ic CROWER REGRIND

The Cam I want:

212/218 .520/.528 114ls 111ic COMPCAM FOR N20

So I need you guys to talk my lady into buying this for me. How much it is worth HP wise and all positive things that come with this cam. We need to convince this girl that this will make my car fly.

Honestly i would say its good for awful close to 40 flywheel hp around 20 rear wheel horsepower, so it should be real close to 40 at the flywheel, especially with pcm programming tell her to get you that to and you will have 40 rwhp
Longtubes, true duals, ram air, caspers tps tec, ls1 26lb injectors, supersix powerpack, heads milled .020, comp cam .507 220/224 114 ls, forged internals and chromeoly pushrods, bored .030 over, tb spacer, tranny built with stiffer springs and kevlar bands, bigger servo, transgo stage 3 shift kit, edge 3600 stall, 1 pc aluminum ds, 3.73 superior gears, lsd rear ,custom pcm tuning, walbro 255 in tank,

depending on other mods, u could see 20-30 rwhp outa that. programming always helps. dunno, u may see an ses light, u may not. compare that cam 2 the "sc" cam that www.ZZPerformance.com sells, cuz they say that their cam won't set of an ses light. sounds like a good overall cam.

The cam you want is the best thing you can do. Your girlfriend would be crazy not to get it for you. 40+ sounds good to me. In fact I think I might be looking into the same CAM sometime. My vote is go for it.

Your girlfriend must be awesome. I bet she is a real cool chick. Buying things for your car and all.

She sounds like my girlfriend. My girlfriend would buy me anything for my car but I won't let her spend that much money on me when she has school to worry about. I even got her loving F-bodys so much that a camaro is the next car that she wants to buy.

That is the grind I decided on a long time ago but still can't afford.

Let us know how it goes.

I don't think that you will get 40hp difference off your existing setup. Even though your current cam isn't huge, you still probably see about 10hp gain off that one. Something like 30hp at the crank seems more reasonable for the comp grind.

No one knows until you try.

It would be sweet if you get it dynoed after you do the switch.

Nobody knows until they try your right and you havent tried this cam so you shouldnt act like you know so much. It might not be worth 40 HP but im sure the cam I have now is worth very little HP over stock cam. And the heads I have are completly overkill for this small grind. I will be getting it anyways and show you guys new dyno #'s.

sounds like a pretty good cam to me. i think scott black was going with a cam like this until he turned on us and went for an ls1? ;) the cam will, however, raise your peak torque because of the exhaust favoring going on in that grind. i dunno, you might wanna get the rev limiter raised a bit, would help...

I do plan on raising the limiter as soon as somebody can reprogram my computer for cheap or untill I can afford $450

I apologize, I didn't mean to step on your toes or act like I know more than you, it was just my opinion.

To my knowledge, until Magnus gets his new setup, you will be going more aggressive with this cam than anyone else on the board.

You may very well gain 40+ HP especially with the added airflow from your setup. I would like to go with a setup very similar to yours and I'm very interested in how it turns out.

On a side note, do you know what the max lift you go with the machining from SSM of the valve seal pedestals?
