Ok, the motor is from a '96 camaro 3800 and it's been a pita to get this stupid motor working and I need some input on where to go next. The motor starts for about 1-2 seconds and then dies. At first I thought it was the fuel pressure so I checked that and it was at like 52 with ignition on and like 43 once it started and it died. Then I thought about the passkey system and made a 555timer board, that was running at 43hz. That didn't work either. I don't know where to go from here and I'm going to try and get the 555timer closer to 50hz, but I don't really know if that the problem . It seems like the injectors stop firing, but I thought that the passkey system cut the fuel pump.

well i had a problem similar to that with my 98. does your security light stay on when it cuts out? if so then it is probably the pass key. sometimes the resistor on the key is bad or dirty. you can try cleaning the connections on it. we ended up having to put a resistor farther down the wires of the ignition because it had a broken wire inside the steering column, and not getting the correct ohms to the system

Wouldnt be Vats, once the cars running the car doesnt look for the resistor value anymore.

When im making keys for them I interigate for VATS through the connector under the dash just past the column and and the starter wont even crank until the right resister value is in line. And I usually leave the car run when I disconect my interigator to make the vats key.

Sorry, I don't think that I made it clear that the engine is not in the camaro anymore. I'm doing a swap into an S-10 and everything is done(headers, mounts). I don't have the BCM module from that car and it would be impossible to get it now, but any BCM module from a '96-97 camaro will work, right? I was trying to get my 555timer circuit to work, but I only got it to run a 43 hz.
As far as the vats system not letting it start the car...well, I've seen a lot of other information that says that it will start and run for a predetermined amount of time. Also, I've also come to the conclusion that there are two types of PasskeyII. One that communicates through the Dk blue(theft det. fuel enable) pin and then the newer style PasskeyII that communicates through the ppl(serial day) pin on the OBDII diagnostic port. But, I could be wrong and that's why the damned thing doesn't work yet.

getting technical, passkey is transponder technology, far beyond Vats and yes the vehicle will start without the passkey freq but will shut off afterword, but camaros never got it, far as they got was Vats. The engine alone wont have anything to with any security though. What ECM or PCM are you using for this swap?

the factory pcm...well I assume it's the facory pcm. The pcm was still attached to the harness and the harness was still attached to the engine/tranny when I bought it.
