Did you try just pulling the bolt out? How about pulling while turning by hand?Matt

ok let me rephrase my situation here "sober" i put the bolt in to keep the head from flying off becuase my stand has a tendency to turn slightly ..o put the bolt in about 1/2 way now the threads ARE IN THE BLOCK THREADS so yes it is beign held in by the thread otherwise i could use pliers to get it out. but nvm now cuz i thought of my own solution

how tight did you put the bolt in? Its probly not lined up just right with the bolt and the threads because you only put one bolt in there. The weight of the head is pushing on that one bolt its gonna not line up right. Did you try moving the head a lil while you turn it? maybe just jiggle the head side to side a bit to get the threads to catch? If the bolt isnt catching threads dont keep turning it beacuse your probly stripping out the threads on the bolt or better the block.

well see i do this to all my engines i ever build and never had this problem the only thing i can hink of is soemtihng got down in there and is freeing up the friction making it not screw outways. i have moved teh head and i also een pryed it up so keep pressure on the topside of the bolt still notihng..
