I have a question. After you get a larger CAM say. The 212 218 everyone is talking about. Would you need to mill anything along the lines of a valve pedastil? And look at this anamation.
And do you have to pull the heads to get to the valve seal pedastools? And does anyone know if the SSM heads with the hi rev springs have milled pedastools?
I believe .510 is about as high of lift you can go without having to mill the pedastools. That is about .318 lift at 1.6 rocker ratio. I am not sure what lift the cam has that you are referring to.
No i dont think any milling is needed cause magnus has lif of .520/.520 and he has no problems.

I dont know if Magnus had his done at the time he bought heads or not. Because I believe he is using springs from thrasher not springs from Tom at SSM so they might not have milled his.
This is an email I got back from Tom at SSM:
"Preston,
Yes, you bought the springs. They are setup for .520" lift so you should be OK. Yes, the valve seals mount pretty high up on the valve guides, but we cut the guides down a little for added clearance, so you should be OK.
Heres what to do. We set them up for .52 as added clearance for the .50 lift we run. You'll want to carefully check certain things before you start the car the first time. Turn the engine over by hand with the spark plugs out and watch for coil bind and retainer to valve seal clearance. If you have adequate coil to coil clearance and no retainer to seal conlfict you should be good to go from that perspective. This does not address any piston to valve clearance issues, however.
