  • ABS Problem

I've had this problem for a while, but haven't really done Jack about it.

    ABS Inop light is on.

Usually, if it's raining, I get the Low Trac light blinking when I start driving, but it stops after a while.

At first I had a feeling it might be a dodgy connection somewhere, but on doing a little research I have found that apparently, (well, according to Alldata) 4th Gen F-Bodies suffer from a problem in the ABS Motor Pack with regard to the Motor for the Rear Axle.

Now I have a little device that lets me read and reset OBD-II codes (Plugs into a Laptop), but it only deals with the PCM, so ABS or BCM faults I can't diagnose.

Has anyone else had any issues with ABS?

I'd drop by my local dealership - only there isn't one, so it's not particularly easy for me to get the ABS Codes read.

Now if I could get a Windows XP based application to interface with other systems on the car through my interface, i'd be laughing.

I could even remove the speed limiter and install a better rear ratio.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check your 3rd brake lights, Then the connections of all he wheel speed sensors. The motor pack hardly fails. It;s almost always either a 3rd brake light or wheel speed sensor.

Already checked. Bulbs were OK, but I replaced them anyway

right, but do they actualy come on? you can have a broken ground that will do this which will not blow the bulbs.

where did you get the cable and software to connect to the pcm? what is it called? Do you have a stock 96 pcm or a 97. I've heard the 96 pcm isn't tunable.

          Thanks,
          Ron

Yes, the Centre Brake Light Works.

I suspect that my car has a stock 96 PCM.

I'll have to have a dig around to find the website that I bought the interface. Software is Downloadable.
Interface cost me $95 including Shipping to UK.
If I remember correctly, it's $60 to you guys.
