Well I just called my local Chevy dealership(Scoggin-Dickey) to ask about a price on a HHP3. He informed me that he was working on closing a deal with Super Chips which also has a programmer much like the Hypertech for my car, I was just a little shocked. So now we have 6 options correct?(some 98+ some 2000+)

    1. Jet Chip
    2. Hypertech
    3. ASE Chips
    4. Super Chips
    5. Custom Programming
    6. MAF Translator Plus

I know that Super Chips and Hypertech are about the same things but Super Chips might be a little cheaper. I already have the Jet Chip and know what little that does. I'm actually wanting to switch to the HPP3 to raise my rev limiter and take off the top speed govener. Can we get a post with detailed information with what exactly each of these does and maybe put this information in the Modifications Encyclopedia?(ok, just found it in there, I was thinking more detail than "Blah blah blah")

98-99 have no programmer that I know of that can take care of shift points and gear/tire changes. Custom (read ****ing expensive) programming is the only option. It would be nice if this programmer worked on 98-99 models. Is that the plan?

Actually Jet has stuff for the 98-99. It has the Jet Chip would messes with advancing the timing and a few other little things, then the SCU2000 (Speed Control Unit) to correct speedometer calibration for vehicles where tire size or gear changes are required, changes transmission shift points and eliminates the top speed limiter. www.jetchip.com

Also the MAFT+ is for all years and better than the Jet Chip.

I have had superchips custom programming in for many years so far.
When I did it they could adjust timing, fuel mixture and remove speed limiter.
I kept the timing stock, limiter removed and they adjusted my fuel mixture accordingly.

I believe the SCU2000 only allows for gear changes in two increments. So 3.08 to 3.73 guys like me are stil out of luck.

How could they adjust fuel accordingly when each car acts different on and off nitrous, i was under the impression the only way to see what the car is actually doing is to have autotap and a laptop or some sort of software? Man to bad you couldnt have gotten your rev limiter raised so you could run a higher numerically gear such as 3.73 and not hit the limiter, zooomer says he can do trhat so we can run a huge gear on and off nitrous so we get the full affect from the gears and nitrous so that is very cool

Well, they send out a form and you list any and every mod you have under the sun.
They adjust accordingly from past experience.
I am not the first v6 they have done.

Rev limiter raised? Why would I need that?
So far with my 323 gears and taller 26.1 inch et streets no one has touched my 1.630 60 foot
              I don't need more gear

My car came stock with 308 gears.
              I run 323 gears
I run a 26.1 inch tall tire and to the ground it is like having 308 gears so I do not need to have anyone reprogram it.

I think I am doing quite fine with my weeney 323 gears.

Have YOU had your computer reprogrammed by mr zoomer?

A few months ago I saw an ad for super chip in a mag. about a tuner for the 3.8 v6 camaros and firebirds but when I called them they said they were working on and couldn't give a time when it would be out. This was like 7 or 8 months ago.

Well, talked to the guy at SD again today and he said he should have the deal wrapped up in a couple of days to become a Super Chips Distributer. The price should be about the same as the HPP3 but the power gain should be slightly more.

I'm not sure if their just going to claim more or actually make more, but I might have to get that instead of Hypertech if it does.

James i wasnt trying to affend you, I never said your gears or anything is weeny, I only suggested that with higher numerically gears and sticky tires i bet your car would fly even faster, even though it is very impressive, I meant no harm in anything i said. I understand everyone has different choises but my choice is to have a greater et rather than a better 60ft than anyone, I mean the et is what counts at the end and magnus is a few tenths quicker, well atleast a few, no harm intended in this either. Im just saying that my choice is greater et sorry if i affended you
