Cheap way to add knock?

Any cheap/easy/adjustable ways to add knock and have the car pull timing?

You could do the IAT resistor mod, but make it think it's really hot for a degree or two. And a potentiometer would allow you to do this with some adjustability. Good luck with your project [img]smile.gif[/img]

I think your talking about taking out timing right? When knock is sensed, the computer pulls out some timing. (retards0. The IAt sensor is the free mod that will add a little more timing (advanced). Hope that helps. ;)

Good try, but not completely true. The IAT controls alot of timing. And by adding a different resistor than most do, instead of giving more timing, you can make it take away or retard the timing [img]smile.gif[/img]

Say the PCM thinks it's 120*, it'll retard the timing.

also i have been doing some reading you don't want to add knock cause the pcm has a recovery time and you lose a lot of HP, and soo much other stuff

Yeah, your right, but usually when people do the IAT mod, the put a resistor in that for example makes the PCM think the air is like 32*F. So it advances the timing. A simple rule is, more advance will help your top end. Obviuosly if your advanced it too much (carbed cars with distributors0 the car wont run good anywhere. But it is a fact that the knock sensor will retard timing when it senses knock, to try to rid the engine of that problem.

Kids, if you simply put in a different value resistor, it will tell te PCM a different temperature. Not rocket science there!
