Well I think we went over this in the forced induction area. I'm getting forged aluminum rods, and i check many soucres that say they'll hold up fine for my app. I have a 3.4L L32 motor...So I have forged rods now as it is. I'm selling them since I'm replacing them. If the aluminum rods end up not holding up I'm going to go with a H Beam rod so I still have no need for them. They are not talking about the motor in 3.4 F-Bodies. L32 is the designation of the new 3800 Series III. When they say L32 rods, they don't want them out of an old 3.4.

3.4L Engine Code - L32
pre-04 3.8L Engine Code - L36
Supercharged 3.8L Code - L67
3800 Series III Code - L32
They reuse the codes for engines, have always done so. My friend's dad has a 69 vette stringray and the engine code for it is, L36 :D1997 Pontiac Firebird 3.9L<br /><br /> - TSP Dyno Tuned<br /> - Bored 0.040<br /> - ARP Rod Bolts / Head Studs<br /> - Custom CAI<br /> - Pacesetter Ceramic Headers / !Cat<br /> - 3\" Catback w/SLP Firehawk Muffler<br /> <a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/649312\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/649312</a>

These rods are hot-forged powdered metal and are stock in the 3800 Series III L32; and are direct replacements for the weaker connecting rods found in the 3800 Series II L67. Made of powdered metal, they are more durable and reliable than conventional cast iron, delivering greater anticipated life. As importantly, the powdered metal rods are stiffer than the cast iron parts they replace. That increases the resonant frequency of the rod and translates to lower vibration amplitude, meaning an overall increase in engine smoothness. These can also be used in the L36 if the pistons are changed to L67 style.

Well I feel stupid now....Stupid GM for reusing engine codes...Made me think that I had forged rods.Ben<br /><br />1995 White/Black 3.4L<br />As far away from stock as possible<br /><a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/view_page.pl?page_id=288292\" target=\"_blank\">My Site!!!</a><br /><a href=\"http://www.redlinevsix.com\" target=\"_blank\">RedLineV6</a><br />Rebuild and 3.4 T70 Turbo is complete<br />Details to come....

That's why I don't use the GM engine codes.
I all ways type 3.4L, 3.8L or what ever.
The 3.4 did come with forged rods.
I have a set of forged stock rods now.
I added them tothis page on my cardomain site.
I have the real measurements of these rods. I plain to get more mesurements like the aera of the metal cross section of the wrist and an estemate of how strong it is and more.
Also cross section area of the bolt shafts and strength.
I think the wrist or the bolts are the weakest part. With the weight of the piston plus most of the rod on the rods bolts they are the weakest part.
That is the same page that has the piston G's on it.
I forced some infomation out of some people and found out that a forged Al rod street moter is good for about 40,000 miles.
How about we have a forum rule, no one uses GM engine codes any more.\'85 Z28, T-tops new LG4 and TH700<br />\'85 3.4L 5-speed<br />mods: <a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/id/oil_pan_4\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/id/oil_pan_4</a> the nitrous exhaust O2 safety, pg 3. <br />Areo space materal engineer wantabe
