well if you just go with rockers hopefully you will free up a few extra horsepower with a fully rollerized setup because of the decrease in friction in the motor, also from what I have read roller rockers can help lower engine oil temp because of the reduced friction..
(all this is why I would think it would be cool to go with say a 1.75 fully roller rocker)
also stock stamped rockers can flex causing a stock 1.6 rocker to in reality be more like a 1.5 or so..

The full alum roller rocker set offered only comes in a 1.90 ratio. 3800 site e-mailed and said you need to modify the valve covers a bit.
Not sure what was meant by this. I know "MoreThanAV6" said that he installed some. I would really like to know what the mod is required/needed to the covers.
I been sending e-mails to the 3800 web-site. Took awhile to find out as much as I have so far. I alwasy seem to get answers like "use a file" or "1.90 ratios work great" Well, DUH that is the tool maybe, but file what? LOL. Trying to get specifics from them is a bit tough.
I hope someone here can provide some guidance. This web-site has been a really big help! ;)
The L36 works better with a split ratio. Not straight 1.9's. You shouldnt need springs since the net lift is below .5". I have a L67 btw, thats why I went with the 1.9's and I just happen to get a good deal on the roller ones used. The roller aspect shouldn't add that much, not enough to compensate for the $200 over the modified stock rockers. I did not have to modify my valve covers, just get new gaskets and bolts for the rockers. Maybe that is a L36 thing.
I hsve never heard that you would have to do anything to the valve covers. I think the l67 has the same covers as the l36. If you want to be sure, ask someone on the clubgp website. There are many people with rockers on l36 engines.

Ok, the reason why full roller rockers are not offered in any ratio other than 1.9 is the other ratios did hit the valves covers. This doesnt apply for the non roller rockers.

SLP Performance Parts was among the first companies to develop power-enhancing hardware for 3800 powered vehicles. Now SLP is taking the 3800 bolt-ons to the next level, with the introduction of their exclusive 1.80:1 ratio Aluminum Roller Rocker Arms and Pushrods Package.
SLP's product description:
As the workhorse of GM's passenger-car powertrain lineup, the 3800 is equipped with a mild camshaft suitable for use in a variety of vehicle applications. Simply increasing the rocker-arm ratio from 1.6 to 1.8 yields valve lift figures of .464/.459" (stock is .413/.408"), with no adverse effect on drivability.
These rocker arms are manufactured from high-strength T6 aluminum and feature a roller trunnion and tip that significantly reduce valvetrain friction over the stock steel units. Best of all, no valve cover modifications or spacers are required for installation.
I have em, love em too. I think the Gp should come with them stock. I fixed the ****ty top end and kicks *** for acceleration. Was an easy install too.
BUY A CAM instead!!!! Gains will be MUCH more noticeable, much bigger/better/stronger, etc. etc. etc.... AND it's cheaper!!!
CAM all the way!!!
Also, I HIHGLY recomend you do NOT get a reground cam.. for an extra $100'ish you can have a COMP and gains will be much better and driveability will be a TON better as well..
