• Comp Cam 3.4 Part #'s HERE! Would these parts work???

I was bored so I went to Comp Cams site to see what I could find and they have a ton of 60 degree V6 parts. They list for the 173c.i. (2.8L) but the 3.4 is just a bored + stroked 2.8 right?

I was wondering how much of an increase in not only hp but the better running of the engine would these parts contribute?

I looked up Crane's 60 V6 parts last year and they are expensive. Those gold roller rockers are $299  .

I found the following parts:

Lifters $80.99
Timing Chain $42.99
Roller Rockers 1.52 $112.95
1.6 $135.69
Pushrods $30.39
Valve Springs $38.69
Camshaft $116.39
Total: $445.14
http://www.compcams.com/catalog/046_047.html

One cam is 800-4800rpm/lift @.050" Lift of 1.52 rockers .425"intake/exhaust 110 degrees lobe separation.

The second is 1000-5000rpm/.440/.440 lift,110 deg.

Are these good numbers? Could Comp custom grind the cam?

Just some food for thought.

Hey that's my cam. I'll let you know when I am done with the rebuild, waiting on pistons right now.

I did the 2030 CAM and Crane Gold rockers. I personally wan't to impressed. I'd use the same rockers but with a custom CAM.

I also suggest that if your going to do rockers that you go to 3/8 stud. Get the ARP 10mm - 3/8.

You can get new Hydraulic Crane lifters for $45.00.

Here's a nice list of things that you can do or use: http://www.s-series.org/htm/performance/60degree.php

I believe the Comp Cam Rocker arms are 3/8 and 10mm ;) . I want a custom grind cam, but don't know how to go about getting one? I emailed Crower Cams last night and asked them about one. I prefer the Comp Cam RR over the Crane Gold because they are almost half the price.

didn't someone have a crap experience with crower and cusotm grinds here?

either way the sponsor of www.fbodyv6.com has a nice comp, custom grind, valve train component set up already. I would look into it if you can.

OMG . American Muscle Motorsports is awesome :D . That Comp Cams custom grind kit looks killer.

I didn't know SPEC made 3.4L clutches. I just paid $600 for a Clutch 2 months ago because I thought no one else besides Centerforce made a high performance clutch for the 3.4L. I looked at Thunder Racing and they only had 3.8L SPEC clutches. If I had known, I would have gotten one  . I had a Centerforce Dual Friction in before, and it crapped out. I didn't care for another one. Damn!

What about these bad boys(bottom of page)?
http://www.ammperformance.com/V6InterEngine.htm

And everyone complains about the 3.4L having no nitrous or high hp potential because of weak pistons. Those Ross Forged Pistons are bad @$$! Why doen't everyone else know about those. People always talk about having to send off for custom pistons and 3 month waits. WTF?

Thanks MustangEater :D

no problem

they been a sponsor there for a little while, there is stuff jsut have to search the web for it. I think we were having a discussion somewhere about a place with a bigger throttle body, that might be out for the 3.4l, direct bolt up.

If I rebuilt my engine with these Ross Forged pistons, then could I run higher shots of nitrous? What about over 100hp, let's say 150 shot :D . Theoretically, the engine should hold, right? If everyone says the pistons are the weak link, and the Ross are forged, and the factory rods are already forged. The crank?

I was thinking. What if I had the Ross pistons, the American Muscle Motorsports custom grind Comp cam kit(rockers, springs, pushrods), and a NX or TNT wet Nitrous Kit with a 150 shot. Could this sort of combo push me into the 13's in the 1/4?

That cam may not be the best for your setup either. It was designed to match Southern94's head work for max performance. If you have flow charts from your head work, we can select a cam for you that would best suit your purpose. Just because that is the biggest cam doesn't mean that it will perform best in your car...it didn't in mine.

If you are interested in P&P work or valve work, we will be offering that soon for the V6s along with matched head/cam packages.

well if you are looking into nitrous you are going to want ot port the heads to get mroe flow.

I just wanted to know if the Ross pistons are the answer to the low potential of the 3.4L??? I know the stock rods are forged, but I read that the rods are 5.7", the same size used in small block 350s'. If so, can't I just buy some aftermarket forged, lightweight rods? If the engine was rebuilt and the entire rotating assembly was balanced, then it should run like a dream and handle anything thrown at it?

just pistons wouldn't make a big ol' difference, but combine them with a big cam and heads that can flow enuff(sp) and the lil motor will romp
the stock rod are pretty tuff, and rated up to 7000 rpm,and a machine shop can work 'em stronger

go here for info on useing sbc rods http://www.60degreev6.com/index.php?p=pages&pid=50
