  • MAF vs MAP - keith, related to your lounge post

I know that older 305's and what not used MAP, and didn't the 3.4's from the 93-95 use it as well? anyway, keith you said you had thought of unplugging the MAF to let MAP take care of it due to excessive MAF frequency. I've been running hella rich lately, what's your take on MAF vs MAP, should i unplug it and see waht happens? I mean, will it kill my car?

if you umplug the maf, you will loose some hp.
I know a guy that ran a ls1 without maf, dynoed 290 rwhp . pluged maf in....315 rwhp...

Unplugging the MAF will make your rich condition even worse. When I fried my MAF wires on the dyno with a nitrous backfire I had to drive home with the MAF unplugged and use the MAP readings only. The car ran super rich and would not hardly accelerate under a load, like going up a hill. It was just too much fuel.

I have yet to unplug the MAF.. but listen to what Mike says.

I was only going to do it as a last resort kinda thing.. but never did.

For a low HP application I like the idea of a well calibrated MAF sensor.. I just need to calibrate mine.
