narrowed decisions:
CAM: 218/218 .528/.528 113lsa 110ic.. how aggressive is this? timing chain, gasket kit,

heads: Getting heads off 2002, mill and polish these, replace with LS6 springs, good for .600" lift, new pushrods,

jet-hot pacesetters, h/f car sound 3"
tranny work not important for this.

NEW QUESTIONS:>>
*************************************************
1. What pushrods?
2. SLP Rockers? yes or no? lift with the cam will be around .528ish....
3. Other head parts needed, retainers, keepers, etc?

ive learned so much so far, and a lot of people have contributed significantly already.

Well, about the Pacesetter Longtubes, Don't know if they have a car yet. And when they made the prototype for the headers they have now, it took a year for them to come out.

Their current headers are like mid-length. You should get those!

DON'T GET A CRAPCO CAT! You'll need an O2 sim to get rid of the SES light. Get Carsound.

With the Transmission, a Transgo Shift Kit or B&M TransPack will do nice. Along with a TC

anyone have any idea if heads from a 2002 will fit a 99'?

CAM specs? help narrow it down a little?

The heads will work. As for the CAM specs I like the GT and GT2 cams from ZZP and OnequickV6's cam I believe his is 218/218 110 113 with .528 lift. It sounded awesome on Pgriffiths car.

if i remember, he locked up his engine with that cam, i will look into the gt's from zzp.

any other suggestions?

I think you'd really like the either of the GT cams. If you aren't planning on spinning real high and don't want SES lights from the P0300 code then the GT cam might be the way to go. If you're looking to make a little more power, and raise your shift points to 6500 then the GT2 cam would work a little better. Either way I would stick with stock rockers unless you want to do a lot of head work. Then you could get crazy and do a high ratio rocker with either of those cams.

The cam didn't cause his engine to lock up. There were other variables involved.

Thats incorrect. From the time they LISTED them in their catalog, tell the time they came out was about 1 year. From the time the made mine, till the time they came out was a few months.

hey firebird1...

i have alot of the mods your lookin to get, the 4l60e wake-up package is nice, it gives you servos to improve the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts as well as the 4-3 downshift, although i cant remember the name of the company i got it from, try a search. and if you get headers dont get a catco!! mine melted after like 3 days, so i have no cat now, which in my opinion is too loud, so maybe try a carsound??

I am looking to do some of the same engine mods but since I also rely on my car to drive I havent heard of anyone that has put a cam or P&P heads on and passed a test like we have here in AZ wich is just the dyno run. if anyone has any help that would help. I really want to make this thing a GT killer but I dont want to do alot of work to just have to undo it. thanks.

That same cam has been in my car for well over 5000 miles now, and NO problems. It makes insane power and sounds great! Preston's motor locked up due to other reasons, not this cam.
