Hello

T-Tops evenything you can think of is in this car. The guy bought it and lost intrest on fixxing it he sayed i can buy the whole car for 1000.00 it only has 48 thousand miles on it. Is it posible for me to swap the engine, tranny, rearend, conputer, and gauges into my 94 camaro and what all do i need to change to make it work like it came from the factory that way??? I also wan't to change the power windows, locks, seats, and mirriors into my car as well. I need lots of help please. Could anyone help me with pocs or webpages??? If could you e-mail me at severett@csonline.net

    Thanks

The engine swap process will cost you between 3000 and 5000 dollars, including parts/labor. Some claim to have done it for as little as 2500. You having the whole car for parts is gonna save you a load of money. Check with your insurance company to see if they charge your premiums based off of your VIN. Some insurance companies will not honor a claim if they find out you were paying V6 insurance. Do searches in the General forum and this one on Engine swaps. Also go to camaroz28.com and go to the V6 section. There are more LT1 swaps done by members on that board than this one. If you're serious though, I think you've come across a sweet deal. I'm gonna wish you good luck, but you won't need it. ;)

Given any though to using your car for parts and fixing up that 96? I would be in heaven if I had a project like that... either way you decide to go.

3000 to 5000 for the labor on a swap?!?!?!?!?!

Who is @$$ raping you guys????

I've been quoted 1000$ for labor on an LT1 engine swap.

I think you guys need to either find a better mechanic or actually price around.

So what are you getting @ Shadly???

Buy the car for a 1000.00 it'll be well worth the $$. You can take that LT1 out, turn around and sell it alone for $2000, not to mention the other parts. used t-top glass sells for around 200$ alone! DO IT!! BUY THE WRECKED CAR!!!

            =) I WISH I could find a wrecked Z28 for $1000!!!!

So what are you getting @ Shadly???

I have yet to come across a car that was unrestorable. You've got the car with everything intact, it's just crunched. Take off the crunched '96 pieces and replace them with non-crunched '94 pieces. Be removing all those parts listed, you're basically going to gut everything on both cars and it really sounds like severette94 is unsure of his abilities to tackle a job that massive. There's a good chance the job will get started and not finished.

Hey Shane, if you decide against it, I'll buy that '96 for a grand.

Is it drivable? What kind of damage?

If you decide against it and Shadly passes, I will fly up there and drive that thing home for a grand. That's cheap for a low miles LT1

As far as the swap, to use the pontiac gauges I think the gauge pod and possible the rest of the dash would need to be swapped for the parts to fit properly.

Ease up dude. Just razzin ya. You got a really good deal and I want that car. You asked for assistance on your swap job, we'll all give you assistance. You probably won't find a website on this because most other people would fix the '96 instead of a double teardown job like that. If you go through with it, you're going to have to post a LOT and throw some pics in there. We're all interested.

Ok thanks that is all i need is for people to support others. I don't understand why people alway have to put other down of stuff they try to do but until we live in a pirfect word i guess that will alwas be. I am going to buy the car i theink and my dad sayed that we will try and do it theis winter but not till then. He seys that is when business will get slower and we can use one stall in the gaurage. I found out that the car is an r title that is the only reasion why i don't want to fix it becouse in my mind i don't think a car that is ever totaled is ever the same afterwords. I will keep you guys posted when the project starts.

If wrecked car is not totaled then it would be way more cost worthy to just fix it up. Sell your V6 and put that money toward the restore. What all is wrong with the wrecked LT1? is it drivable? Or like Shadly said, just take off parts from your V6 and put on the LT1. I guess it all depends on how bad the damage is on the 96', but either way i would buy the car.

Did it smash into the passenger compartment? If it did, the car is pretty much shot. It affected the integrity of the cage. If it's just the front end(nose to firewall), I'd replace it! Front end replacement on our cars is sooooooooo easy.
