  • 3.8 rebuild question

I am thinking of pulling my engine to rebuild it soon so I want to add it up to see what it will cost. I am wondering if someone can give me part# for what I will need. I want to go with the new series III connecting rods. what will i need to go with these? (what bearings)I am also wanting to up the compression ratio, what pistons are best? what piston rings are best? also what do I need to have the machine shop do to the block other than boring it? I have heard something of removing a balance shaft or something? where can I get my PCM tuned for a new cam and any other changes? I guess if anyone has a list of the parts nd part # that would rally help me out. where is the best place to buy the parts? any help would be great. thanks.
also how much can these engines be bored?

I have a set of SSM heads that would go good on a rebuilt engine. Let me know if you want them.

A good thing to do(in my opinion) while your block is at the machine shop is have your block, as well as rods shot-peened. Shot-peening aligns the molecules in your cast iron black and makes your block a bit stronger and less prone to damage. And usually a block is only about 50 or so bucks to have this done, in my opinion ITS WORTH IT.
