• k so this is really really strange...

so i went and tweaked everything last weekend..readjusted the lash on the rocker arms the way magnus described... everything was good. put the new power steering pulley on, it fit and stayed there, took the car on its FIRST test drive!

problems arose on the way back..going back up the hill, car started popping a little...then...POW...big backfire.. going up the driveway it backfired a coupla times again, and popped a little. then after turning it off, i tried to start it again, and it wouldnt happen.

so i left her in teh garage for the night, and went home. went back this morning, started the car up fine..but...ran with a backfire on at least one cylinder... a popping..not quite banging, but almost like one..its backfiring on a regular basis on at least one cylinder.

any reason this would happen? dad says the rocker arms loosened up again, but i dont see how that is possible -- unless -- maybe i collapsed a lifter somehow? i dunno.

    any thoughts?

I agree...I would look into an ignition problem before a mechanical one on this.

already did that. all the plug wires are on the right plugs, all the plugs are tight in their cylinders, the ignition coils are new, crank position sensor is new, cam position sensor is new, ignition module is new...

        any more ideas?
