  • Priming the oil pump

So after my rebuild I still odnt have any oil pressure. For those of you that have done a rebuild how did you prime that oil pump? I think I might have some trapped air in my pump...

I have heard to pack it with vasoline, but I have never done it. I don't know what the "official" procedure is.

yeah you can use some assembly lube in it doesn't start dry, and gets the required suction..

I second the assembly lube pack, I know that stuff doesnt mess with your oil.

what i do on big block's adn small blocks is my dad has a distributor that is modified so you can put a drill on the top of it and spin the pump until the oil is running out of all the passages(you know it is when its coming out of the rockers or tips of the pushrods)...then its pre-oiled...

The block w/ distrubators are different. There isnt a place to do that on my block. It sits right behind the front cover. I will probably end up having to take my front cover back of and packing it...
