has anybody that switched to an LT1 and has emissions testing in their state ever have a problem with passing. some people were telling me that if my vin says v6 and i have a v8 then i would fail. I am not sure if it is true or not but i would think that if i told the insurance company that it would be legal with them and if i was emitting the proper exhauste regulations that that would be legal.

this is what the state site said:
one side while driving, it is probably time for a wheel alignment.
Inspecting engine cooling system, hoses, and clamps.
Replacing air filter, changing automatic transaxle fluid, and inspecting front and rear brakes.
1984 to 1995 model year vehicles weighing less than 10,000 pounds and
1996 or newer model year vehicles weighing between 8,501 and 9,999 pounds
Your vehicle will be driven on a treadmill while the exhaust is collected and analyzed. The treadmill test
is simple and safe, and usually takes less than four minutes to complete. The vehicle's emissions are
measured under a range of operating conditions including acceleration, deceleration, cruising and idle.
so i guess as long as i stay with in the emissions lititations on the exhauste that i should be alright.94 3.4l firebird
-Flowmaster 80 series exhaust
-SLP CAI
http://beta.hometown.aol.com/trooper7771/images/meangreen%204.jpg

I called the emissions department of MD and they told me to talk to this guy at the MVA. So i did and i got the big OK form the state. They said that the emissions test just test how hard that your car has to work to for 1.9 miles at 55mph. They said that the car would do better on the test on then my motor does now because it doesn’t have to work as hard. The dyno will still think that i am running a v6 but they said if that there was really a problem that they could go into the system and tweak the settings for my car so that it would test it as a v8. The guy said that the only thing that would make me fail would be if i were to do something like remove anything that regulates the emissions of the car like the cats. Oh the main reason that they said i could do the LT1 swap was because that body was certified by some regulation group, that I can’t remember the name of, to have the availability of either an LT1 of 3.4, 3.8 to be but into the car.
