I thought you your sounded pretty darn good compared to an LS1. Maybe i am just basied towards the 6.
;) Acually i have heard some 3.8s that sound just the same if not better than an LS1 espally with a cam like yours.

At idle it sounds great.. but in the upper RPM's and from a distance you can tell.

I want that purty V8 sound that you often hear in the distance.. when you know somebody is tearing it up.. I want that somebody to be me.

Well, that's an interesting turn of events. I hope you will still continue to bestow some of that V6 knowledge on the rest of us from time to time...

And I'm more than a little curious to see where you eventually go with modding the LS1. :D

I'm STILL working with PCM's.. I dropped 2 off last week at a friends house. The PCM project is slowly making progress, but time is sparse.

I still can't believe you be the one to give up on the 6. You've been a legend and many looks up to you for inspiration, like me. But good luck to you. I'm sad about this, but I'll get over it.

If it were me and I really want a street and a drag car, I would get a classic 67-69 400 ci Firebird and slap on a Vortech Carb blower SC along with internal works. It will never get emission tested so that's one thing not to worry about and it is a perfect sleeper. There's one here that does 10 sec., I don't know his time with the n2o.

Yeah I would keep my V6 till the end and no matter what other cars I may get in the future. I certainly will keep modding it till they have nothing left in the market. You and a handful of other guys here have inspired me to do this. I'll miss you in the battlefield, Keith.

Just wondering, what hood are you looking at getting? The LS1 won't fit with your hood correct?

I hope to be upgrading soon too but I'm going the easy way and just going to look to buy a 98-99 Vette and be done with this Fbody stuff. I'll keep my 6 around for a while as a street car while the Vette is getting the heads, cam, turbo and cage installed. I have a bit of saving to do before this happens though.

I'm not leaving the V6 world guys. I still want to get all filthy V6 dirty in the trenches. If Zach gets rid of his 3.8 also, I'm not going to have a V6 to wrench on. THAT I will miss. I LOVE working on the 3.8. I have the entire engine, bolt placement, torq spec and sequence memorized.

ls1s rule. and you people saying that anyone ditching their V6 for an ls1 are selllouts are just dumb. once youve tasted an ls1, its hard to go back. i rather have a 10 second ls1 than a 13 second V6. i dont care how impressive a 13 second v6 might be...a 10 second ls1 is equally impressive.

booya!

10 sec NA LS1's are a dime a dozen.

13 sec NA L36's are two.

I think being one of two is much more impressive than being one of hundreds.

I am definately going to miss all the glory behind my 3.8 setup, and the impressions on the street... but my time has come.

I understand the need for an LS1, I had the same bug and ended up getting a 2000 Z28. The LS1 is freaking awesome, even bone stock it pulls like crazy. Lots of mod potential there.

At the same time I couldn't let go of the V6, so I'll keep moddin away at that one too. Eventually that LS1 will end up being faster. It doesn't take much to knock a few seconds off the 1/4 mile time.

Anyhoo, congrats on the swap. I KNOW you will be happy with the LS1.

Why would you want to buy a motor where you can ACTUALLY BUY AFTERMARKET PARTS FOR IT? :D
Everybody and their grandma will program and LS1 computer.

My friend here in town got a stock LS1 with a muffler and a built suspension and went high 12s, dyno'd at 340 something. Now he has stage 2 heads and a cam, a Z06 intake manifold and PCM tuning. He now dynos at a little over 400. With a big converter! 10s are a given. And fairly easy.

there are no 10 second bolton LS1s to my knowledge. and there are only a handful of 10 second h/c guys too. number of modded ls1s vs the number of modded 3.8s.... im sure youll see more 3.8s in the 13s...then what? i rather go 10s with 5 other cars than 13s with 5 other cars.
