....not swapping for an ls1 here. 11s is my goal. I want to beat james to it.... and if he beats me to it, i my goal will be 10s. I will die trying to do it and if i blow my 3.8 up, i will buy another 3.8 till i get the numbers. The sc was just the first step. I want to rebuild my engine, and then throw either C02 shots on the intercooler or NOS with the charger. IF i have to start gutting out the batmobile after that...then thats what i will do... ANYWAYS, Keith, yeah its a lil shocking, but none the less i am not surprised. It was only a matter of time before you reached the full potential of the 3.8 NA and in a way, this is the next step for you. Your interested in speed, other v6ers here are interested in making the v6 go as fast as they can. To each his own. Good luck on the project.

the L36 is such a strong motor... problem is people don't do things the right way and blow it up. ;)

I personally think an LT1 swap would have been better
1.) the LT1 can be built up to 1000 HP alot cheaper than an LS1.
2.) it sounds better
3.) its an iron block
LS1 is more powerful stock, but i see alot more faster modded LT1's then modded LS1's
and about the 3.8
The 3.8 has great potential, its just kids here dont know how to make a car fast...
1.) start a weight reduction program for your car, no dont strip it down like thoughs gay ricers with the crx's do, thats just ugly then.
2.) engine mods - build it up, bore it out.
3.) either supercharge or turbocharge
My friends GTP is running mid 12's right now
L67 is not a whole lot of different that the L36 although there are differences
3.8's have the potential to be faster than a v8 stock, around high 12's maybe high 11's if your lucky and smart.
the LT1 and LS1 have the potential to run lower than 8's
Now you look at WOW! 8 seconds compared to 12 seconds, big difference someone with a modded v8 could smoke me. Of course, but remember you are driving v6, people look at v6 f-bodys as to being slow pieces of ****. So when you modded v6 goes 12 seconds, people will think again about talking **** or racing one.
I get called **** all the time when i drive my stock v6 camaro. What people dont know is the 3.8 v6 can be made fast, not superfast, but fast.
There is all this ricer **** on the markets these days for honda and mitsu, because thats where the big money is right now... all the kids racing there imports. You can still find plenty of things for GM cars. you just have to look harder.
right now i am currently working to pay off my camaro and then mod the hell out of the engine. in the end i will ad turbocharger most likely.
after iv had fun for a while, i'll sell my v6 and buy a 96-97 Z28 with the LT1, ill find one that wasnt beatin to death. then ill mod my v8 up.

LT1's may be cheaper to build but they are still an inferior engine. The LS1 has better flowing heads, which will always give the LS1 more potential. [img]smile.gif[/img]
Besides, I'm not making a 1000hp car. AND, LS1's are by FAR faster than LT1's in just about every category. It's not until you do get to the high HP cars that you see LT1's running the #'s.
LS1 with a converter and long tubes can be a 11 sec car, in an LT1 you'd be a high 12 sec car. I agree the LS1 is a far better engine and can be made faster with botl ons. But its when you get into the bottom end is when its going to break your bank. Stroker kits for LS1 is running about $3,500 or so while a stroker kit for Lt1 can be had for $1,500 or less. When you build the bottom the LT1 is alot cheaper because its 350ci while the ls1 is 347.
I chose an Lt1 for my v8 swap. Not because i like the lt1 a whole lot i just found a better deal on the engine and trans combo. I recieved my engine and trans today so I will get started and let you all know how i progress.

stroker kit is the way to go, yes the ls1 has a ton more potential, id take a ls1 over an lt1 if i could afford it, sadly i have a 96 camaro model,
swapping would not be a fun option. So i am just going to push the potential of this 3.8...
too bad the buick 3.8 cant be easily swapped into our cars :(
about the LT1 faster than the LS1
the LS1 clearly dominates, but i dont see alot of well modded LS1's, maybe it's the money issue,
maybe its just were i live. i dont know, I see alot of LT1 383 strokers taking on vettes and whompin em. i just see it as an LT1 has more potential to a person that cant spray cash out their nose, like me [img]smile.gif[/img]

In my opinion, $3800 is way to much to make this a worthwhile mod. I would rather have bought a shell and built a carbed SBC engine with the money. That way, you could have a nice v6, and if any LS1 owner has jokes, you could blow their doors off and show them what a real small block can do.

You can buy an assembled LS1 stroker shortblock w/ forged pistons and arp rod bolts for $3k, i don't know where the hell you are getting those numbers.
