• pcm tuning services????

has anyone used slp to get their car tuned yet?
jsut wondering what kinds of gains you saw from dyno tuning at slp or anywhere else really.
the tunign in question would be for an '02 5spd car with 3.73 gears, y-pipe back exhaust, whisper lid, and slp ram air.
most of the places i see advertise seem to claim 30ish hp with fuel and timing tuning. that sounds a bit like a low estimate to me.
any help is appreciated.

thanks

An LS1 would easily gain the 30hp, but seeing as you have a V6, and there is NO tuning available for those (at least not thru SLP's dyno tuning), this will not work for you.

the computers are flash programmable jsut liek the V8 boxes. i would think someone soem where has soemthing or companies like hypercrap and fast**** wouldn't have prom's out.
the software exists, it is jsut a matter of finding out who has it available, shich is the point of this thread.

They program for 3800 powered cars. Id email them and ask if F bodies are programmable. I dont see why not though.

i just got an email back from these guys. they do f-body tuning on a dyno and only charge $399+ dyno time. that really isn't a bad hp per dollar.
only problem is the car in question is in jersey and they work out of chicago and detroit. hmmmm.....ROAD TRIP!!!!!

I believe that you can pay a core, and have them send a flashed DHP, then you send the core back. It wont be dyno tuned, but it will at least be reprogrammed for you.

Very interesting, and it says they program any 1997 and up 3800 series II powered vehicle, so this might be an option for us '97 owners. I still have my old 3.08 pcm laying around in case anyone ever did offer tuning services, and now I'm glad I saved it. I'll probably wait until next year when I get my turbo kit put on and then I'll send off my PCM to get custom programmed for the turbo too

It is an option, they will do it. But you won't see 30 hp -- you might see 15 if you're lucky. Think about %, not pure hp. There just really isn't a market (well there is, but the V8's come first) for us.

i know in teh long run you have to look for a percentage gain. since most of us are lookin at programming for modded engines though, i think the gain from the stock table can easily be in the 15-20% range. from a completely stock car i would be surprised to see a 10% gain since ODB2 is fairly well rounded on it's own.
from the LO3(305 TBI V8) cars i usually play with people normally see 30-40 hp gains with tuning and common bolts ons over stock on a motor that is only rated at 170hp from the factory. most of the gains come from the timing table since the factory counts on everyone running cheap low octane over higher grade adn they set up the tables accordingly.
hopefully we will know soon enough.

I'm sorry I offended you.

FYI. I never made any promises. All I'm doing is trying my best.

REAL tuning is haveing a dyno shop wideband dyno, As far as speed limiter removal, shift point adjustment, raised rev limiter, I can go elsewhere. There isnt anything you will ever do with a pcm that i cant get done by say dhp. Why do you think you are so special? It is sickening how you promise these people something and they basically worship you, Its disgusting some of these guys act like they would play wit your nutz if you brainwashed them to do so like the bs programming

Dude, you gota chill.. Have you been keeping up with his progress on DXsoft?? its acctualy quite impressive how much he has gotten done in the least few months.. All not to mention he is doing this as a side project.. investing his time and effort into something that he will never see any gain from.. beaing that he has clearly much better editing software for his car allready avaiable..

so.. IMO.. keith is doing an awsome job.. keep up the good work.. its aprriciated.. I know how hard that crap is..
