  • 1.7 Roller Rocker ticking

I really can't figure this one out. I got some new Comp Cams 1.7 Roller Rockers from ZZP, but one of them is ticking like hell.

I have removed & reinstalled all of the ones on the driver's side (where the ticking is coming from) 3-4 times now. It sounds like only one is ticking, and it could be one of the ones in the front on the driver's side. I've cleaned all the bolt holes, tightened on the compression stroke, and torqued them down exactly to spec.

The 1.7s put me at .538" lift, and with SSM heads I shouldn't have to worry about clearance at that lift.

    Any ideas?

I would make sure its coming from the valve cover and not the egr connection at the header.

It's definitely coming from the rockers. Sounds like it's coming from the front of the driver's side valve cover. It wasn't making this noise before I installed the rockers, so it's gotta be that.

bad bearing in one of the rockers? could have gotten jostled around quite a bit in transit...

Took them all off again, cleaned them, and got a new bolt to replace a bad one and it seems like it's fixed. Still sort of a loud valvetrain, but definitely not ticking like it was before.
