ive heard a lot about them, probably all the NHRA teams use coated pistons...its supposed to worth a few HP...Black 1998 Pontiac Firebird A-4 swap
271.4rwhp/259.4rwtq NA
13.30@102.44
www.freewebs.com/wickedsix98

they do make a difference. most ppl overlook them, even tho they're not very expensive. They basically allow a wider tuning range by protecting the engine's parts. Using them on piston tops, combustion chambers, and the bottoms of valves will keep heat inside the chambers. They will especially help with turbo motors since heat is the energy source most used to spin the turbine wheel for spool up.
Also, anti-friction coatings help on parts such as piston skirts, and any other internal parts that move against each other like that, reducing frictional losses. basically, this is worth doing if the motor is being built for max power. on a stock car, having all the components coated either way will cost between 500-700 bucks for only 10-15 rwhp. doing these on a turbo, nitrous, or SC motor would mean even higher gains, maybe as much as 30 rwhp. I honestly don't know how much could be gained from it, except enhanced longevity of the motor, and the peace of mind that comes w/ that.2001 Arctic White Firebird
More mods than I\'m allowed to list!
