  • Lifter Q's

I haven't done much to the V6er in the household, but I need to get a set of lifters. Where is the best place to get them, and are ls1/6 lifters the same as the v6? I did do a search and came up with squat.

I have built many many engines...none with less than 8 cylinders though.

    Thanks,
    Rich

got mine from autozone... melling, 8.99 a piece.

i don't know if LS1 lifters are the same as 3800, but i suspect that they aren't since they have different part numbers. i know that doesn't mean much, but it would be an expensive mistake if you tried and it didn't work.

you can get slightly stronger (more expensive) comp lifters through most of the site sponsors.

looks like there is probably a blown head gasket. It also appears that the exhaust manifold won't come off while its in the car. I'm having to drop the k-member enough to get the manifolds off the heads, and then get the heads off. Sucks in the rain. Garage is full of my 99 T/A and all of its engine parts. Its all just BAD timing.

damn this v6 is a ***** to work on compared to my ls1's. I've got the k member dropped...looks like a funny car right now. Pulled the heads. Can't really see that either head gasket is blown, but there is definately water/oil mix under the intake...looks like the perverbial motor snot. It doesn't appear anywhere else. Maybe I had a blown lower intake gasket. They were very brittle and cracked up. Owell...i need a valve job anyway.
I will say I will pull my next motor from the bottom. It literally only took about 8-10 bolts and disconnecting the wiring harness. It may prove to be a 2 or 3 person job to mate the k member back up to the body though.
