Used Valvetrane good idea?

i am contemplating buying a used valvetrane from a member on here who claims that it was only used for 2500 miles. i haven't seen it in person, so i am cannot physically inspect it, but generally is this an ok thing to buy used, or should i just buy new and be reassured. Thanks in advance. Also, would i be safe buying pushrods and lifters, and springs, and then buy retainers, and roller rockers new?

its your call...your taking a risk on anything that is used. look through his posts and see if hes honest or helpful that should help you decide if the 2500 miles is probably accurate.

I have used Titanium valves for the Z28's heads.
There used but look at the alternative >$100 for a used set (intake $150 or exhaust $60) or $100 a valve new.
I'm reuseing the valves on my heads for the V6 there Ok as long as there not bent or warn down to less then .090'' thickness below the seat on the exhaust valves, intakes can be thiner.

Most parts should be okay if they were only used for a short amount of time. You should definitely get new lifters though with your new cam.

Yes replace them unless there rollers.
It is very hard to bring flat tapet lifters back to life for reuse, you have to resurface them. Any thing over about 2000 miles is a no.

so go for everything but new lifters. also, josh what is the diff between the two roller options in your valvetrane package? and how fast can you ship, because ur my next stop. also, do lifters come with most cams, or separately?

Pushrods, springs, retainers, and roller tip rockers are ok then, i will just buy new lifters. sound ok. btw, he said that he blew a piston, would that cause any of these parts to be defective or harmed in the process?

i wouldnt think a blown piston would do anything to the valvetrain unless it did some pretty major engine damage. did he just burn a piston or throw a rod or what? its hard to say without actually seeing the engine or even knowing what happened

We sell three different roller rocker arm setups. One is a full roller set by Crane. The other two are made by CompCams and are roller tipped rocker arms meaning that only the end of the rocker arm that rides on the valve has a roller. The Crane ones have a roller on the pivot point where the rocker stud comes through. You can get the CompCams rocker arms in a 1.52 or 1.6 ratio. Stock is 1.5 so either will give you a little more valve lift for you cam. The 1.6 is the most popular one of the two. Let me know if you need any more info.
