I'm about to attempt to pull out my motor and transmission, any tips you guys would have? I'm lookin for stuff that may have had u stuck for a while that u finally found a solution to. Things I should do before other things. Just some general advice on the whole thing.

I'd never recomend dropping the motor from the bottom to anyone...there is more than enough room for our V6 or even an ls1 to go in and out from the top.

I would have to say that if you have the space, dropping the engine out the bottom is the way to go. I did this on my 95 firebird(3.8) and it was very smooth. i can tell you how i did it, and i have a couple of pictures if you email me @ gtg602b@prism.gatech.edu

through the top, takes me about 4hrs to pull a motor, through the bottom, 2 hrs, and alot cleaner ;) if you have the space go for it.

if you take it out the top take the upper intake off first, it makes it alot easier, its faster putting it in then taking it out i found that out

Ive seen a motor pulled from the bottom. Some guy on cardoamin.com pulled his motor through the bottom with the front wheels and such. Ill try to find it.

My motor has been pulled about 3 times soo far, all 3 have been through the top. Only LT1s and LS1s have to be dropped through the bottom. Be careful not to hit the windshield on the way out or in, and be sure to support the engine once oyu drop the tranny out, or it might tilt back and crack the bottom of your windshield.

Every motor pull I've ever helped with was from the top, that includes many LT1's. I pulled mine from the top. Plenty of room in there. Pull the upper intake off and use the stock "handles" on the front drivers side head and rear pass side head. Getting the oil pan to clear the k-member is probly the biggest challenge, just have to tilt the motor a bit.

I'll be replacing my k member too, probably with one from bmr or a stock one. My current one is a little bent. Would that be a reason to go from the bottom?
