  • Need quick help with ignition

When i got my car it had Bosch plugs in it. They messed all up so i got them replaced with whatever came in it from the factory. Well after 10k miles i have a bad one again somewhere i dont know if its because of my mods or not. Anyways i a gonna buy an aftermarket ignition system. What is the best one to get. MSD? Also what all is included in it? I need to do this soon since mine is messing up.

Whoa dude slow down. First things first, this isn't advanced tech.

Next, our cars (3.8's especially) are notorious for burning through plug wires, especially if you're on the stock ones or stock routing.

Bosch plugs suck. Get some NGK's and be done with it.

The ignition system on our cars is actually quite nice. Some choose to upgrade with the MSD (the only one available), but between the box and the CIU's it can be an investment of $350.

Your likely problem is a fouled plug or a burned through plug wire. Both of which should set a misfire SES (flashing) light. Learn to change your plugs / wires yourself -- it's a nice and easy mod, and you'll get your hands dirty.

The only thing you need to do is replace a plug or wire (or maybe even a coil), scratch the idea of dropping money on an ignition system. Save it for some real mods.

    Good luck,
    -Rob
