I'm dealing with some tuning issues at the moment. I ran slower times Friday than before the mods. I looked under my hood when I stopped for gas and noticed all of my plug wires were touching when they crossed each other. I'm going to change them this week and make sure none of them are touching. If that doesn't work I'm going to try and find someone with AutoTap to take logs of my car and see if I'm getting some KR. I've heard of aftermarket verters causing KR due to the increased noise. If that's the case then I'm going to Radio Shack and getting a resistor to desensitze them a bit. I don't know does anybody have any ideas?

I bought some potentiometers to try and combat the KR demon.

I will install and tune them tommorrow. If I get them to work right, I will post a detailed write up in the mod review section.

Always takes a bit of learning on new mods.

Yeah I had 2.11 60ft times but nothing up top.. I know I can get 1.8's if the car is running right. We'll see

OK here's the skinny.

I got two radioshack 100K ohm 1/2watt resistors. They are good up to 250volts. They were like $2.59 apiece.

THe knock sensors only have one wire in thier harness. They ground themselves out in the block. I wired the potentiometers into the single wire leading into the Knock sensor. I then set each side for 49.5K ohms of resistance.

I took a test drive with autotap, and I now have ZERO KR!!! Gtech trapped me at 97mph.

I am going to gradually turn down the resistance on my two potentiometers so I can see what the appropriate level is. RIght now I think the knock sensors are completely def. I want them to be able to hear serious ping, so they can fix it.

I wish it weren't final exam time, I would spend more time on this project so I could post good results.

So they are the adjustable ones.. I couldn't find them the other night when I went to Radio Shack. Did you buy case's for them?

I didn't buy a case for them. They are currently ghetto rigged. I have them ziptied to a wiring harness so they won't fall off.

The radioshack part # is: 271-092

I misquoted the specs in my last post:

100K ohm
Linear-Taper Potentiometer
250VDC
0.25watt

That is exactly what it says on the package.

I figured out my problem today. Bad Coil packs I was changing my spark plug wires and the posts on 2 of my 3 coil packs were corroded(sp). I've got MSD Blaster Coils on order, so Tuesday night my car should be ready to run..

1) Consider the conditions you were running your car in when you ran that 15.2, then look at the conditions you ran in most recently. Thunder Valley has its good days and its bad days. Today and yesterday it was pretty hot here compared to last week (I know living in Norman.) If you trapped like 87-88 then you probably just ran in worse conditions. With the mods I have now I have trapped 85, last time out I trapped 88. MANY variables go into drag racing, I would not start throwing money at the car to solve a problem that may not necessarily be there.

2) You should not be getting KR with a 3300 stall. Usually if people get KR from an aftermarket 'verter its 3800 and up, if they even get KR at all. This KR thing with converters is definitely a mysterious thing sometimes.

3) What kind of tires were you running and what were you trapping (a link to a post in the drag racing forum would be nice.)

4) I would check out that new exhaust system before I considered the possibility of KR, maybe there's a leak somewhere?

I want to go to the track so BAD on Friday, maybe I'll see you there....?

It was 20 degress hotter when I went back after the modifications. However I didn't have an LSD when I ran the 15.2 and I was running on bald Eagle GA's. I have Kumho ASX's, a built tranny, high stall verter. I should still have gone faster even with the change in temp.
