I was road racing in March, and one of the vettes thought he threw a rod. Really loud hitting noise from the side of the engine.
Tore off the valve covers right in the paddock, was running the engine with the covers off (oil everywhere!), and then he looks down and sees a piece of sheet metal (wheel well) hitting the side of the motor.
Anything like that in your case?

Yeah my next guess is a cracked or loose flywheel.
When the come loose, they make a noise that sounds like a rod or some other metallic noise. See if the noise is in the bellhousing..

To me the noise is more of a exshust type leak than a metal on metla tap but i have replaced all exshuast parts from the motor back and redid all gaskets except the head gaskets and noise is there so i pushed away the idea of exausht leak but thats what it sounds like.

Does the car run badly? Have you noticed a decrease in performance?
Listen very carefully to where the noise is coming from at speed. Sometimes its hard to tell. I had a really bad noise coming from my rear differential a few months ago. Turns out the idiots that replaced my gasket gunked it up with too much silicone. I'm not saying that's your problem but it could be something you totally didn't expect.
It couldn't be anything to do with the tranny if you hear it at idle......

start your car, and disconnect one fuel injector at a time & see if you can narrow the tick down to one cylinder...i had a tick on my winter beater & right away when i disconenct #4 cyl the tick went away.
maybe put some thick oil ie 20w50 in & see if the tick goes away...then you'd know a bearing is bad
and exhaust leaks move a cigarette around your headers/manifolds & if there's a leak the smoke will show it
