Scott, Please do not link to that forum. I am batteling myths spread there in e-mails on a daily basis now. It gets rather frustrating.
Secondly, I disagree with that method.
Please please whatever you do don't adjust you base settings UNLESS you modify your MAF setup and/or Injectors.
By modifying the base setting of the MAF sensor, the error % is multipled at WOT. Your readings will be less consistant as well due to this.
People on LS1tech like to tune based on LTrims.. But many people don't know WHY they are doing that.. they just do it.
Here is how LT's affect our 3.8's
Posivite LT's cause:
Decreased trans line pressure (softer shifts)
Sooner shifts
Less timing advance
Negative LT's cause:
Increasd trans line pressure (Firmer shifts)
Later shifts
More timing advance
Tune the car for WOT only unless you have driveability issues and must modify the base settings.Keith - Chicago
HP Tuners - PCM Reprogramming
97 Firebird V6 to LS1 swap
V8 9.967@132.78 1.322 60\' NA Heads/Cam
V8 10.295@128.48 1.363 60\' NA Cam Only
V8 10.987@119.31 1.422 60\' NA Stock Internals
V6 13.674@98.22 NA
V6 12.394@104.91 N20 100HP

Scott... we're talking extremes here.. +15% to -15%...
Not +2% to -2%
Unless your car has driveability issues, leave the base at zero. If you change the base settings, for whatever reason.. Why are you doing so? Why?
So you can have 0% LT's at WOT.... Why? Why do YOU want 0% LT's at WOT instead of +10 or -10%?
Let the MAF sensor do its job. The PCM relies on accurate MAF readings to determine the accurate LT's to give you a CONSISTANT air/fuel ratio. When you modify the MAF readings by a straight percentage, you adjust an entire curve by a linear value.
Unless you have driveabliltiy issues, leave the base at zero.
And let me ask you this Scott, do you think he knew how the + and - LT's affected our performance? I doubt it. Did you know the LS1 is almost opposite?Keith - Chicago
HP Tuners - PCM Reprogramming
97 Firebird V6 to LS1 swap
V8 9.967@132.78 1.322 60\' NA Heads/Cam
V8 10.295@128.48 1.363 60\' NA Cam Only
V8 10.987@119.31 1.422 60\' NA Stock Internals
V6 13.674@98.22 NA
V6 12.394@104.91 N20 100HP
