What will go in our 3.8's if your running 350+ hp?

Luckily it is CFM and not boost that mainly determines HP.

throw in a Th700R4, T-5 blows... I am on my second rebuild and I have a maybe 220 ft.lbs. of torque on a good day.
I have looked inot a T56 swap but it looks expesive but maybe possible.
Uh, no they don't. Cause I looked for a strong T5 and the guys at LS1.com with over 500 rwhp would have found them. If you are going to make enough power to brake the tranmission get an upgraded 4L60E. As for the internals, the engine will be fine as long as you keep knock down to nothing. Detonation will destroy even forged pistons. There are GTP's running 500 crank hp on stock shotpeened rods and forged pistons if ya care.

Next, you show me a 3800II F-body that puts out over 500 ft-lbs of torque at the crank!
There's no need to swap to an automatic transmission, the T56 can be upgraded to support over 850 Ft-lbs of torque. The one I know of in particular is a daily driver.

Thanks for proving yourself wrong, since above you said 600 ft-lb and their tranny will only handle 500 ft-lb. I would like to see how many 1/4 mi runs it would last at max weight.
I can show you plenty of Grand Prix with 600 crank hp. No one has decided to mess with an F-body that much yet, but can be achieved quite easily. Let me guess the 850 ft-lb daily driver T56 is in a viper, too bad no one has been able to put a vette T56 in a LS1, smarter and cheaper to go auto at that power level.

...and, while were at it, thanks for clarifying that the term "specs" in your narrative above referred to HP/TQ figures; for a moment there you had me thinking that you thought there were differences in the longblock mechanicals of the GN/TR vs. the GNX, when there aren't. Two more psi boost and a slightly better intercooler core gave it the edge...but you probably already knew that.

I typed 600 meaning horsepower, and put torque instead, type big deal. Again, show me a 3.8L F-body making 500 Ft-lbs that would neccesitate a stronger tranny. Never mind that. How about the fact that G-force said that their are many variables in making that number and that it's strictly a ball-park and not absolute.
And no, the T56 wasn't in a Viper, this isn't a Viper forum. It was a Camaro. With a 3800 pound race weight!
Cheaper to go auto, unless you are talking about a race tranny such as a Turbo 350 or 400, Powerglide etc. You won't be rebuilding a race prepped 4L60-E to hold that much power for anywhere near the price of a race prepped T56. Lingenfelter, and Yank both are asking near 10,000 dollars for your automatic tranny. A Richmond ROD (based on T56) will run you 3,300 max and it'll support well over 750 horsepower.
I never said a 3.8L couldn't reach 500 ft-lbs, I said you show me one. With Zetec 2.2L's pushing 2,000 horsepower, you think I don't know what the 3.8L is capable of?
And leave FWD trans-axles out of this, they don't compare to GM RWD trannies. A built 4T65, or 4T80 is still no match for a mild performance RWD transmission.

haha, that powerdyne is crap if you ask me, peoples that iv talked to had them got rid of them and got a custom kit application for the vortech, the powerdyne that sad would break with lighter pulleys and it sounded like **** compared to other marketed supercharges
It's not that you cant go over 9 psi with the powerdyne, its that it wont last and is unsafe to the belt and all the accessory pullies. I put a grooved pattern on my powerdyne pully and I get 7 psi without the belt being very tight. Before I did this the belt would have to be tight as hell. I have personaly seen 11 psi with my powerdyne. I have also seen a one month old belt snap and the bearings in my altanator go. See what I mean? It can be done but it's better to just stay between 6 and 8 psi. Tightening it up to 9-10 is alright for ocassional track use but not recommended.
There is a big difference between a 3.8 and a Series I 3800. The 3800 didn't come out until '88. My car is among the first to have a 3800. The '86 Oldsmobile did not have a 3800.
