Please do not quote me too often unless you know its true - when I make a statement it is one off my current knowledge level. I, like many of us here, am learning quite fast and I've changed opionions a lot lately about things as I've discovered the benefits of aspects of modifications .
Now, on topic, I agree with Magnus about the supersix heads and the cam size. Due to our cyl size and engine nature 210-215degrees of intake or exhaust is very large and should be substantial. Taking a look at the stock LS1 cam vs the stock V6 cam you'll note the difference in size immediately, yet somehow the stock VE is virtually identical - all due to cyl size.
Go too large and yes your midrange driveability will indeed suffer. Cams have the ability to move and increase or decrease the power curve - they are essentially the brain of the engine.
I believe it is better to go safe with cams than sorry. People seem to get way too caught up with numbers, as I have in the past, and thats not the right thing to do. You won't loose much power dropping from a 212/218 to a 206/212, but you'll gain a lot more driveability.
Keep in mind the stock cam has lift values around the 0.41 range with a duration split of 182/190... At 115LS.
We're talking about going to 206/212 or larger, with lifts of 0.45-0.5... Overall thats a 13-15% increase in duration, and a 10-20% increase in lift! I definetly don't think thats a small change!
