I need a New Transmission, and im doing an engine swap to my 93 Firebird A4. v6. im putting in a Chevy SB 350 carburated, and i need a new trans cause i blew the 4l60e with the v6. dreadfully all i have is reverse and park. but i do have a question. should i go with the 700R4 high performance built trans or another 4L60E High Performance Trans. keep in mind engine has over 500 HP and over 500 Ft/LBs of torque

idont know if my opinion matters but id say with that engine id use the 700r4. it might be kinda hard to make the 4l60e fit up to it. but i could be wrong?

A 4L60E is an electronically (and computer) controlled transmission... I can imagine you're going to have a ***** of a time getting it to work. Just use a 700R4 that's been beefed up.

That's going to be very interesting, I don't believe I've seen a fourth-gen with a carbed engine yet...

This was originally posted by Wicked 3800 V6 in the FI forum. Thought it'd be relevant due to it showing a cowl cut for a 4th Gen using a carbed engine...

i got another question. With the 700R4 Will i need a different driveshaft? or will it be direct bolt up.
Also the shifter linkage will it be basically the same or is it different. i dont mind going with the 700R4 cause it saves like 800 bux for me cause its not computr controlled. and i can get it built the same was as the 4l60e.

id imagine that youll need a new driveshaft. cause ill bet the yoke is different and it may need to be shorter or longer (my bets on shorter those 700r4s are huge). and check into the mounts too cause it might not even be able to be mounted. then again ive never seen the tranny thats in it now.
