  • question about fuel injectors..

ok say i have cai, headers, no cat, 3inch exhaust...

5 speed.. and lt1 injectors.. why? i dont know. prolly cause i got them for 20 bucks

Anyways.. i was thinking. okay im done modding my car for quite some time now (want to slowly save for turbo kit or somethin).. would it be better to go back to the 3.8 injectors? they can prolly be had pretty cheap. but sometimes i think that these lt1 injectors are making me run rich cause in 3rd gear my car seems to fall on its face...

Chances are till you get a turbo or something of that sort, those LT1 injectors probably are making you run richer, maybe not by much but im willing to bet they are. Im not too sure on prices for 3.8 injectors but hold on to them LT1's cuz im sure you can find a better use for them later.

      Go back to stock.
If I can run a 100 dry shot with the cam on stock injectors, you can run light mods.

thanks guys.. i only changed out those stock injectors for the lt1 ones because i thought it was the injectors causing my misfire.. it turned out being a coil pack and i never replaced the injectors back to stock..

thanks for the input i will be going back to stock injectors.. i guess this weekend i got the stock injectors chill'n in my garage.

by the way how is a safe way to clean the injectors by myself..

can i just buy so of the cheveron techron injector cleaner and just soak the injectors in that? lol

Hmm...sounds like it would work to me I guess. Also you could soak them in a parts cleaner over night, that might work also. What would really be good to clean them would be to reverse pressurize them and then apply voltage to allow a solvent to flow backwards through the injector.

Aren't the LT1 injectors larger injectors??? Did you get tuning for them? If you didn't then the PCM is gonna open the injector for a certain amount of time for a 3.8 injector, which flows a lesser amount than a LT1 injector at the same pulse width. You get what i'm saying? So yeah, if you didn't tune for it, you were gonna be running rich at times because the pcm didn't know how to fully compensate...

and wastes gas, and is unnecessarily bad for the air... but if the injectors are not too much bigger, i think part throttle operation would be fine while the car is running in closed loop. in open loop though it would be much richer than usual since at heavy load it already runs kind of rich and runs open loop.
