Rockers can do some gains yea. Alot of 3.8 GTP and grand prix guys use them. Only problem with rocker's is you will be paying $300 plus for a good set. If you want full alluminum rocker its more like $500. Now I dont know about 45HP gain I would guess more in the neighborhood of 10-15hp. And our rocker's are offset. So there are only a few options. Intense makes a good rocker but they are expensive. If I were you I would just upgrade the cam instead. Its same price but alot more work.

    Check out rocker's here:

But if you wanted to push all that you can out of your motor and make it run really good wouldn't it be a good idea too use rocker's than and a cam?

A cam is superior to the rockers if you are speaking of just swamping them out. With a cam you can increase the duration as well as the lift.

There are alot of things to consider when judging if one is better than the other.

        You need to consider:
rocker geometry(are they going to smack into anything and are they going to cause significant side loading of the valve)
Are they going to load the lifters to much
Are the pushrods strong enough for the combination of cam, rockers, and springs
Are the springs strong enough for the amount of lift you want to run
        ease of install
        etc.

If you look at the www.zzperformance.com and look at the rockers they are selling, they have an article that explains the pros and cons of them.

Compcams has some good info as well.

Depending on your setup, a cam and rockers combo might be ideal if you work it right. No I am not saying throwing in a cam and 1.9:1 rockers together.

So there is cons of getting rockers? What if I just want to get the stock ratio rockers based on the fact that stock ones are probably weak and flex and are not the exact ratio. Is that worth it and will there be any cons?

There are also adjustable rockers out there in testing called "hot rockers". these adjust lift as you're driving. I dunno how reliable they are, but they're being made for our engines and will probably come out in december. I the website is www.hotrocker.com.

Trust me, your not going to get anywhere near 45 HP gain from just rockers. You won't even see that with CAM and Rckers IMHO.

I put what I consider first class rockers on mine with the largest pre-made CAM on the market for 3.4L and didn't see anywhere near 45 HP total gain.

The rockers I used were Crane Gold Race extruded 1:6 rockers that run about $300+ new
