Here's a problem I'm suffering from on a 2kbird, 3800: Every once in a while, I'll go to hit the key to start it, and nothing happens. The security light stays on, but no trouble codes. I'll remove the fuse for the PCM for a few seconds, replace it, and it starts right up. Been thru the manual troubleshooting, and the best I can figure is that it's a bad shock sensor. Anyone?

It is your VATS (Vehicle Anti-Theft System) acting up.
There could be a couple reasons why this is doing it. Could be the little chip on your key or it could be two wires loose or worn in your steering column. Try searching here for "VATS" or for "Security Light" you will recieve tons of info on this.

or it may not be your VATS. could be your neutral safety switch. If its stick, check that first. its behind the clutch pedal under the dash, mounted near the firewall. its like $8 to replace, but to check it, unplug it, and use a "U" shaped piece of wire and put the wire in the plug, so it completes the circuit. MAKE SURE THE CLUTCH IS IN, and try to start the car. If this works, just go replace the switch.
REMEMBER, IF YOU BYPASS THE SWITCH, YOUR CAR WILL START W/O THE CLUTCH BEING IN!

I had that same problem for a long time, because i used my key to pry something open and it was slightly bent. I started using my spare key and havn't had a problem since.-Kevin
\'96 White Camaro RS M5
GTP Shortblock - T3/T4 -6psi Intercooled
Open Downpipe

I will never have that problem again. I just went around it. And yes you still need a key to start the car, just in case any would be thiefs are out there.
