• Need a vin number please!!!

I have just recently changed my gears out and stuff and need to get my pcm reflashed. i found a place to do it . i have heard of people using a 2000 vin to replace their 99 vin so they can use hypertech. I was wanting to do this. I am asking if there is anyway i can borrow two things just for reassurance. I need to borrow a 2000 vin with the y87 package on it and also a 99 with the y87 package on it. this is just incase the 2000 vin doont work. i have an automatic with 3.42 gears and lsd. i appreciate anyone that can let me borrow theirs. Thanks.

2000 will work. I don't have one here at my office, but I will look for one when I get home and post up.

My car was a 99 with an open 3.08 rear. I installed 3.42s and LSD and flashed my PCM with a 00 Y87 VIN to correct the speedo and shift points. I believe that I still have the VIN I used at my house. If not I can call someone and get it for you.

That will work too. There is no distinction between an open diff and LSD cars in VINs... only in RPO codes.

Post your VIN and help him out Timbo

There should not be a problem. I would just take the 2000.

That VIN given above is for a 2000 Firebird. I am like 99.9% sure that doesn't matter at it will work fine on a Camaro. Could someone confirm?

                              Thanks!

I had some 3.42's and a LSD put in my car and now my car is just plain slow. I got Wester's programming for shift points and speedo recalibration. I thought that would help it and it did help somewhat but not nothing like I thought. I can't even really explain it, it sounds like the car is making a lot of power but it just won't go. Like the computer is holding back power or something. Hard to explain unless you are driving it. Defintely slower than when I had stock 3.08's and open diffy. Anyway, Wester's is sending me another PCM and if that doesn't fix it I will try having my PCM flashed with a 3.42 program.
