Both of the tuners on the market work on 98s.

Texas Speed offers mail order tunes. Hp tuners and DHP offer DIY software to edit the PCM yourself.

I'd get it dyno tuned if I were you. Fast Chip in Tulsa, OK does a great job of it. I have their number here somewhere.

Chips are a waste of money. Get a tuner (DHP or HP Tuners) and do it yourself.

There are no "Chips" for our cars. Here are your choices.

                1. Hand Held Programmers. These devices are plugged into your ODB II port and modify your PCM (like the Hypertech) but they are only a little effective and only on a slightly modified car. You would never want to use one of those on a car with a bolt on SC.

                2. Mail order tune. Next you have mail order tunes. These are good if you are not able to get a dyno tune or you do not have the knowledge to tune the car yourself. However, you will not get the most out of your car with a mail order tune.

                3. Dyno tune. This will probably give you the most gains. It will give you the most horsepower with the best safety factor. The main drawback is if you do any other mods, you will have to go back if you want to see gains from that mod. That can get expensive.

                4. Do it yourself programmer. There are two on the market for our cars, HP Tuners and DHP. These give you the ability to change hundreds of parameters in your PCM. This is the most flexible solution and if you are willing to put in LOTS of hours, it can be as effective as a dyno tune.

                Hope that helps. Good luck.

The only downside to a dyno tune is drivability. Most dyno tunes concentrate on WOT performance, but street driving is usually part-throttle.

I say the best thing to do is buy a DIY tuner, and rent a few hours on a local dyno or dragstrip to get your WOT tuning done.
