  • Loud knocking....

Hey guys, I drove my mazda home from a friends tonight and when i got home and shut the radio off, I immediately noticed a loud clacking coming from the engine. It seemed way too loud to be a cam follower, but actually almost sounded like it was dieseling. Is this rod knock? Am I screwed up the *** right now? My camaro project is taking all my money and I don't have money to rebuild this engine...any ideas as to what this might be?

get a wood dowl or 2x4 and put it on the motor in different spots and stick you ear up to it.... try vuavle cover first then move down the block you will be able to tell where its coming from

also before you start it again check the oil.....

well, i added a little oil cuz i knew it could use it, started it up this morning, clacked for a few seconds then died out right away. It needs an oil change, but it seems to be ok now. Maybe it was just one of the lash adjusters but man, that was pretty loud....like, not loud loud, but in comparison to your usual valve tapping it was....thanks guys.
