  • Strange Problem

In first gear under a moderate acceleration my car feels like it has a small misfire and at 5k rpm I can feel the car loose power I have a full comp cams setup: GT1 cam pushrods lifters 110lbs springs keepers the lot. I have new plugs wires and ignition coils running out of ideas I have searched far and wide and can not find anyone with the same problem I have all 3 gm books for my car and I can not find anything about the problems I am having. I am thinking fuel maybe but other that that my car rung great and Very strong up till 5k. any ideas? Any one In New Orleans or the area that has auto tap or scanning software? If so I have beer if they can help! and i dont think its bad gas.

It might be knock retard. Our motors end up showing a lot of "false Knock" when the cam is upgraded. I was seeing a lot at about 4800 rpms. It can cause the PCM to pull a lot of timing, causing the car to lose power. Find some tuning software and scan a few runs. That should tell you a lot.

Are you throwing any codes? Possible slipping clutch.

Only p0300 if it is the cluch I have a spec 3 in my shed but i think it is KR I looked around and it is a problem with our cars but i am having TSP tune my PCM and they said they can desensitize it.

P0300 is "Random Misfire" and it is caused by the agressive cam. TSP can program that out too.

I am glad you figured this out. THe agressive cams cause a lot of valve trane noise and the knock sensors pick this up.

I use HP Tuners and they have not set up the V6 KR desensitizing tables yet (they have them for the V8s). Untill HP Tuners sets that up, I wired in a desensitizing circuit to reduce the knock sensors 35%. It solved my problem but I am being a little conservitive with my spark advance untill I get some good controls.

To shea, I am also having random misfires. I do not have a AM Cam but this is the only thing I have not checked out. How do you wire the circuit?
