Try using the same specs as the VS cam, but w/ less lobe separation, maybe 113. that'll make for a higher hp NA cam, but I dunno if it'll pass smog.

As long as your total valve overlap isnt too insane, it will pass with flying colors. This is one reason Im not going with a super aggressive cam.

Dom, I heard that you did a calculation on both VS and GT and both make the same performance?

Since I live in Cali. and I had my car smogged last year, I would like to get the VS but the GT would be perferable because it is emission friendly. What do you think?

i did smog check like 3 months ago too. damn it i'm still saving to get my engine rebuild.in the meantime my car is sitting at my garage :(
so i think i have like a month or so to decide on the best cam for an N/A engine. so plese people help me here. shoot out your answers
the mechanic said it would cost me like $2000 for stock rebuild and like $3000 with some performance parts. it this price ok?? or i'm being raped ??.

Port and polish heads, 3 angle valve job, forged rods and pistons, cam plus if he does the programming. If that's what he would do then that's a great deal.

Get the parts urself, and make ur mechanic put them in. That way, the engine is built w/ the stuff u specifically want. some suggestions, look at www.zzperformance.com, www.3800performance.com, and www.intense-racing.com. these 3 websites have lots of parts that u might wanna use in ur rebuild.

I'm going with the GT cam. Supposingly, it doesn't set off the SES light neither.
